How to Be Saved
To be saved, you
must:
1. Realize that you
are a sinner. "ALL have sinned..." and "The wages of sin is
death." (Rom. 3:23, 6:23; 1 John 1:8)
2. Realize you
cannot save yourself. Jesus Christ paid the penalty for your
sin (Ephesians 2:8,9; John 3:16; Romans 5:8); there is no
other way to heaven except through him. (Acts 16:31; John
14:6)
3. Repent and ask
God to save you. He promises to forgive you. (Romans
10:8-13; I John1:9)
4. Receive Christ
into your heart as your Lord and Savior. (Salvation is a
gift, but a gift must be received to be yours.) John 1:12
If you did the
above, then thank God for saving you and begin your new life
in Christ as a child of God. II Corinthians 5:17 (The first
step after salvation is to tell someone about it. Romans
10:9-11)
The Nutshell
Gospel-John 3:16
G-God so loved
the world, that he
gave his
O-Only begotten
S-Son, that
whosoever believeth
in him should not
P-Perish, but have
E-Everlasting
L-Life.
3. What Is
Christianity?
While there are
several groups that
call themselves
"Christian," those
who follow the true
Christian faith have
certain core beliefs
that have never
changed. The
Resurrection of
Christ is one of
them. His Deity is
another. Without
that, our God would
be as dead as those
of other religions.
4. Bible Plan of
Salvation
Step 1- Admit
(confess) that you
are a sinner. "For
all have sinned, and
come short of the
glory of God. For
the wages of sin is
death; but the gift
of God is eternal
life through Jesus
Christ our Lord."
Romans 3:23; 6:23.
Death means eternal
separation from God
forever in a lake of
fire. Revelation
20:14,15 |
But here's the good
news: "If we confess
our sins, he is
faithful and just to
forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us
from all
unrighteousness." 1
John 1:9
Step 2-
Realize that you
cannot save yourself
and that Jesus died
in your place to pay
the penalty of sin.
"For by grace are ye
saved through faith;
and that not of
yourselves: it is
the gift of God: Not
of works, lest any
man should boast."
Ephesians 2:8,9 "For
God so loved the
world, that he gave
his only begotten
Son, that whosoever
believeth in him
should not perish,
but have everlasting
life." John 3:16
"But God commends
his love toward us,
in that, while we
were yet sinners,
Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8
Step 3- Ask
God to forgive and
save you. If you
sincerely mean it,
He will! I John 1:8.
Then simply receive
Christ as your Lord
and Savior.
(Salvation is a
gift, but it must be
accepted.)(*See the
prayer below if you
need help.) "That if
thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the
Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in
thine heart that God
hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt
be saved. For with
the heart man
believeth unto
righteousness; and
with the mouth
confession is made
unto salvation. For
whosoever shall call
upon the name of the
Lord shall be
saved." Romans
10:8,10,13 "But as
many as received
him, to them gave he
power to become the
sons of God, even to
them that believe on
his name." John 1:12
*Prayer --
You can use this as
a sample. It doesn't
have to be in these
words, and it can be
aloud or in your
heart. The key is to
mean it with your
whole heart:
"Dear God, I know I
am a sinner and that
the wages of sin is
death. I realize I
cannot save myself,
but I believe your
Son, Jesus Christ,
took my place on the
cross and died for
me. Please forgive
me of my sins and
save me. I now
receive Jesus Christ
into my heart as my
Lord and Savior. I
give my life to Him
and will live for
Him as best I know
how. Thank you, God,
for saving me."
If you were sincere
with God, your sins
are forgiven and you
have a brand new
life in Christ!
"Therefore if any
man be in Christ, he
is a new creature:
old things are
passed away; behold,
all things are
become new." 2
Corinthians 5:17
